Please keep Misty Owens' parents, the Galoneks (from Alvin) in your prayers. They got 1 1/2 ft of water in their house from Hurricane Ike and did not have flood insurance. I know they got most of the clean-up work done right now, but they have a long road ahead to get through this. On top of it all, Mrs. Galonek recently had surgery to operate on the cancer she was diagnosed with.

Does anyone know whether they need some extra help. I would be available to maybe help replace the sheet rock, etc. Like Friday, or something. If they already have the materials to do the work.

We are going to be working there on Friday, hanging sheetrock and stuff, so if you could come, that would be great. I don't know how long we will be doing it, but I know that we are doing it in the morning. Wes, if you want to text me about it, my no. is 281-678-7187.
Thanks!

Hey, Amy, could you let Wes know that we are working there today. I don't have his number, so I don't know if he saw my message.
Thanks!

UPDATE:
Dear Brethren
As previously reported, several saints in the Alvin congregation were severely impacted by Hurricane Ike. Since then, most days have been spent helping them recover from the storm. Brethren are in good spirits, despite the material loss and physically demanding schedule. Here are some recent pictures showing the damage suffered and the ongoing restoration efforts.

Currently, we have received around $2,000 in benevolent donations, with more funds on the way. Unfortunately, the needs of these two families are considerably greater. Richard and Tammy Galonek, who had 1 1/2 feet of water throughout their house, did not have flood insurance. Currently, they are working with FEMA, but do not yet know how much help will be forthcoming. Sister Francie Gray, a widow lady who had a tree fall on her house, has homeowners insurance, but with a sizeable deductable. All the work performed thus far has been for free. After the insurance adjuster inspects the damage, and gives the go-ahead, contractor work can began on Sister Gray’s house.
I hope this information proves useful as you consider who to help and where the need is greatest. If you wish to help financially, we recommend that you send a check to the church address, which is listed below. Please make out your check(s) to either “Richard Galonek” or “Francie Gray.” Alternatively, you can make out a check to the church, and the elders will oversee the distribution of such donated funds.
Speaking on behalf of the Galonek and Gray families, and for the Alvin eldership and congregation as a whole, we are very grateful for the kindness and generosity that has been manifested by our beloved brethren. Again, thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Yours in Christ,
Mark Mayberry
